On Saturday nights I listen to four albums (more or less) and just listen. Sometimes I read liner notes. Sometimes I have red wine or champagne. I might even do coffee or tea. Sometimes I burn candles, maybe incense for a smoky effect. Occasionally I freestyle with my watercolors. But I focus on and I enjoy entire albums just as the artists arranged and then shared with us. Sometimes I’m exploring a new genre or artist. Sometimes I bask in the joy of the music I already love and have memorized every beat, note, and lyric. Sometimes I like the feeling of a concert and listen to live albums. But always, I just listen.
